Winning Poker Hands

Learning the ranking of the basic poker hands will help the player recognize when a winning hand is dealt. Payout tables are described according to these rankings. Some tables have variations for 4 of a kind.

Winning Hand Rank    Illustration    Description
Royal Flush 1 The 10, jack, queen, king and ace of the same suit.
Straight Flush 2 Any five cards in consecutive valuer of the same suit.
Four of a Kind 3 All four cards of the same value from each suit.
Full House 4 Two sets of cards where one set is 3 cards of the same value, and the other set is 2 cards of the same value.
Flush 5 Any 5 cards of the same suit that are NOT in consecutive value.
Straight 6 Any 5 cards in consecutive value that are NOT of the same suit.
Three of a Kind 7 Any 3 cards that are of the same value.
Two Pair 8 Two sets of cards where each set is of the same value.
High Pair 9 A Pair of jacks, queens, kings, or aces. This kind of hand may also be called Jacks or Better.
Winning Low Pair* 10 A pair of 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's, or 10's.
